Expertise:
Mr. Booker came to west Texas in 1993 to work as a soil scientist
in the Environmental Protection Department at the U.S. Department
of Energy's Pantex Plant near Amarillo. At Pantex Booker developed
and managed the soil monitoring and compliance program; assisted
other lead scientists to manage, analyze, and present monitoring
data for various reports; and led the development, and managed
the implementation of a data quality management plan for the Pantex
Plant. In 1998 he moved to Lubbock to work in the Soil Fertility
Program at the Texas Agricultural Research and Experiment Station,
Lubbock. Promoted to research associate in 1999, Booker assists
with the planning, implementation, and reporting of soil fertility
research programs. This has focused on the nitrogen, phosphorus,
zinc, and water interactions in cotton, peanuts, and sorghum.
Booker works with data management, SAS programming, ArcView GIS,
and ENVI remote sensing analysis software.
