Expertise:
Booker joined the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station in 1994
as a research technician for Drs. Mark Lazar, plant geneticist,
and Jerry Michels, entomologist, at Bushland, Texas. Later Booker
moved into a permanent research technician position working
for Dr. Steve Winter, former agronomist for Bushland. Booker
worked with Winter on nitrogen management for sugarbeets, the
basis for her master's thesis work. She earned her Master's
degree in 1997 from West Texas A&M University. She began a research
associate position in Lubbock, Texas working for Dr. Robert
Lascano, professor of soil physics. Booker works with cotton
irrigation experiments, managing student workers, compiling
data, laboratory procedures as well as equipment maintenance,
and presenting reports on various research projects, with precision
agriculture as the primary objective. Booker has extensive knowledge
of FP528 Leco Autoanalyzer, computer technology, Window's NT
4.0 administration, ArcView GIS software, Microsoft Access,
and PC208W Data logger programming. Booker is currently enrolled
in a networking certification program.
