Expertise:
Robinson has served as director District 1 for the past 5 years,
and earlier in District 2 for 12 years. In each district, Robinson
has initiated new and innovative programs which have increased
Extension's visibility, involved new clientele and provided
better service to traditional audiences. In the panhandle and
south plains of Texas, he built a strong working relationship
with area legislators to deal with all issues that may be vital
to the state's agricultural economy. He maintains strong, effective
leadership with county, state and national government officials
and bodies. He challenges county agents to excel in their work
and at the same time, gives credit and recognition for their
accomplishments. Robinson's innovation with the Agri-Partners
program, now operating in both districts, has become an integral
part of extension's outreach to producers and industry. This
innovative funding approach through the university and corporation
partnerships provides support for applied research and survey
data collection at the county level. He established AG-CARES
at Lamesa, the nation's only full-scale research and extension
demonstration farm, and has expanded the district wide integrated
pest management program into a national model.
