Expertise:

Steddom joined the Plant Pathology program in June of 2000 under the direction of Charlie Rush. Karl conducts research on the effects of deficit irrigation on diseases of wheat and sugar beets and remote sensing of plant diseases. His areas of expertise include microbial ecology, biological control of plant diseases, and statistics. He is currently comparing a number of remote sensing techniques to see how comparable they are against each other and if they can differentiate between biotic stresses, such as plant diseases, and abiotic stresses, such as nutrient and stresses. Karl enjoys the challenge of working with the large data sets generated by these techniques.

Professional and Academic Training:
2000, PhD, Plant Pathology, University of California, Riverside,
1995, BS, Botany, California State Polytechnic University, Pomona
